GENERAL GUIDELINES
Tidal Bodywork intends to provide clients with professional & therapeutic services in a relaxing environment.
Each treatment is tailored to a person’s individual’s needs.
The following serves as a guide for first-time and returning clients.
reservations | cancelations
Massages can be scheduled at a minimum of two hours before the desired session.
Massages can be canceled at any time, prior to the massage. In the case of tardiness, the therapist will wait up to 15 minutes past the scheduled session & the treatment will be adjusted to fit the remaining time.
scope of practice
Massage therapy is a profession in which the practitioner applies manual techniques, and may apply adjunctive therapies, with the intention of positively affecting the health and well-being of the client.

Massage therapists DO NOT diagnose or prescribe for medical conditions. Tidal massage services are not intended as an alternative for proper medical attention for specific conditions. Please refer to a medical doctor for any specific condition which requires medical treatment.
payment
Payment is accepted in cash (US dollars / local colones). PayPal (megan.gutman@me.com) OR Venmo (@MegGutman).
Online payment must be completed before the session.
informed consent
Prior to each session, a treatment plan will be discussed with you.
At your first visit, you will be asked to sign a treatment consent form stating you have read the policy information, understand it and agree to comply with the professional massage therapy policies & process.
Returning clients will be asked to update this form annually.
existing & new medical conditions​​
It is the responsibility of the client to keep the massage therapist informed of any medical treatment currently being taken & to provide written permission from the physician, chiropractor, physical therapist if necessary. The client must also keep the massage therapist informed of any changes in health conditions.
For client’s undergoing chemo & radiation therapies – please note that Tidal Bodywork requires a doctor’s note that states the doctor is aware of & agrees to the desired treatment.
confidentiality
Tidal Bodywork treats all client visits & conditions as confidential. Your session will not be discussed without your permission.
boundaries & needs
Tidal Bodywork uses modest draping techniques, only the area being massage will be undraped. The client may choose to leave on as much clothing as needed for comfort, refuse any massage methods & stop the massage at any time.
The client may request to adjust pressure, temperature (when possible), music volume or work longer on an area or move on. Coconut oil and coconut-based lotions are used for massage. If the client has special product requests or allergies, they must be communicated prior to the massage.
Sexual interaction or discussion of any kind between the client & the massage therapist is NEVER appropriate & NOT tolerated. The therapist has the right to terminate the massage if this occurs.
